Week 2 - 3rd February
Hello! Thank you for choosing to click on this post and find out what I’ve been up to this week. I’m so sorry this is so late, life’s been very hectic with my third year project, class, socialising, working and also being very ill! I was particularly ill this week (week 2) with a really bad cold, so I didn’t get too much done, or get up to much, but so here’s a little update for you.
As a little recap, on Sunday (of week 1) I met up with ALLORA for the first time, who are absolutely lovely, we discussed what they already had and what help they needed from me, so I went away this week and researched about engagement and good times to post, as well as promotional and marketing campaigns, and came up with my own ideas, and created a document for them, but due to my illness we didn’t get to meet up this week unfortunately.
On Tuesday though, before my illness took full force I did manage to get a good first rehearsal of the semester with my band to prepare an onstage workshop we had at uni the following week. We learnt “Bags” by Clairo and sorted all of the harmonies and went over “In My Feels” which is an original of mine - which I wrote with Merryn Robinson (coming soon). I then went home and sorted out some drums on Ableton (me and Ableton have a very love-hate relationship).
This week I also wrote half a song with Merryn (a regular feature here, get to know her if you don’t already - she’s amazing!), it’s called Sweet Tooth, the lyrics to which are on my lyric page here. We wrote the first verse, pre-chorus and chorus together, and then I went off and wrote the second verse and pre-chorus myself! I’ve attached the original recording from the writing session, with Merryn singing it, I hope you like it! Let me know what you think.
I also had a writing session on Sunday (2nd February - so it isn’t in my last post) with Heather, where we wrote some music for a song of mine called Torture, as I really wanted to play around with this idea of ‘torture’, the only voice note we have of it at the moment is instrumental, which can be found on the demo page here, so you can see how that sounds.
I also wrote a lovely little song on the Ukulele (using the only four chords I currently know on the ukulele) which I actually love. It desperately needs finishing and refining, but I’ve got the lyrical and melody ideas down so now it’s just focusing everything and getting it recorded. I’ll post a voice note of it on the "demo's" of that when it's more refined too so you can hear so that’s coming along as I had such a bad cold, I barely had a voice and could not breathe out of my nose for the life of me so the current voice note is not for public ears.
Side note: If you haven’t seen Sex Education on Netflix yet, you HAVE to! It’s so good, I really really enjoyed it, the fact that we’re not getting a series for almost a year makes me so sad. I managed to binge the entire two series in about 3 days whilst I was practically house-bound because of my awful cold (it’s bad I know, but who doesn’t love a good Netflix binge when you’re feeling super poorly). I’m gonna say too much apart from maybe watch it with your mates and not your parents - it is called Sex Education so you can imagine what sort of things occur - but please let me know if you’ve seen it and what you think!!
Thanks so much for choosing to read this, please check back soon for another update!
