Hello everyone!
So this is going to the last blog post of this series, as my project is due in on the 29th May, but don’t worry, the articles will still continue.
I’ve had such a great experience setting this website up, and coming every week to tell you what I’ve been up to. It’s been a rollercoaster of a year. When these blog posts first started off, everything was fine and normal, and it’s so crazy to look back on those times, to see where we are today.
I’ve tried my hardest to make everything in this portfolio amazing for you all, and also share a behind the scenes, chatty view of the music industry and doing a music related degree, and honestly if you’re reading this post, feel free to drop me a message on any of my socials if you have any suggestions or just want a chat, I’d love to hear from you.
So this week I actually headed home on monday from Leeds to London, and although it's lovely to be home again, I can’t believe 3 years of university in Leeds is over now. I do have to say though, I’m so excited to pursue my career in the music industry, and I can’t wait to get properly started. This week has basically been me trying to finish all of my work, and has mainly been about tying loose ends up, so here it is, the final blog post (maybe not forever though because never say never).

Performance
This was a big week for my performance work. Our videos were due into our tutor on 22nd May so that she could look through them all and get them ready for the ‘Quarantine Collective’ which is an online festival, presenting performances from the students on the Music Performance and Production students at Leeds Beckett University, so that we could still have a public-facing performance, like we were meant to, however adapted for the situation that we’re in now. It’s such a great idea and I’m so happy to be a part of it. It’s running on the evenings of the 27th and 28th May, and I am in the support slot! I’m second to last (my performance starts at 20:35 or 8:35pm - whichever takes your fancy - on 28th May), so please be sure to check it out! Here is the link to the event on facebook where the performances will be broadcasted via a livestream: https://www.facebook.com/events/561170607928327/

As you might know already, my performance has a comedy element to it - it features little sketches which relate to the lyrics that I’m singing, which flash up on screen. This week I spent a lot of time filming the last little bits, finished editing and putting the videos together, re-recording vocals and re-mixing the projects until I was relatively happy with them, and until they were the best I could possibly make them, and sometimes you’ve got learn when enough is enough, you’ve done all you can.
My band has been amazing though to get this done in time and send me all their parts. Even though there were a few hiccups along the way, and I’m sure I probably annoyed them occasionally, we got it done, and I’m very happy with the final performance. Please make sure you check it out!!
ALLORA
In all honesty, there’s not much to report on this section. We’re all getting on with our stuff during quarantine so there’s really anything new happening. However, the final promo for the last video in the ‘Getting To Know ALLORA Series’ is up, with the full video going live on Monday, which is ‘Getting to Know Shira from ALLORA’! You can check it out on the ALLORA page here. I’m so proud of this series, and I’m so lucky that I had this opportunity to work with these amazing girls who I’m sure will go a long way in the industry.
It’s been great working with these girls and hopefully we can continue our relationship even though I’m not in Leeds anymore. I’m thinking of starting more video series and more work like this soon, as I actually love video content, so make sure you keep an eye out. I hope you guys have really enjoyed this series and it’s given you a bit of a laugh when you might have needed it.
My Own Artistry
This was also a case of tying up loose ends. This week I went through and decided what final songs I wanted to fully record, produce and release, and which ones would go as demos into the demo section, so that people could contact me to finish any of the songs I wanted to further develop before they get released.
I finished a few songs off that I might have pushed slightly to the back of my mind, these were; You, Hurts, Don’t Go, Before We Leave and Dystopia, which are on the lyric page here (apart form Dystopia as it is an instrumental) and the music page here.
One of my favourite funny lyrics is definitely from ‘You’ which is: “play me like you Monopoly, I could give you all the properties”, which is 100% not a euphemism, and if you think it is please pick your mind up out of the gutter.
I also created new highlights on my instagram (@sabsmusic_) so if you come to my profile you can quickly see the work that I've done, and I'm super proud of the graphics and design for it. Give it a cheeky peek if you like.
Hopefully there will be more coming soon, in some way, in terms of my music, maybe I’ll be the main artist, or maybe I’ll be working with other people who knows, but it’s definitely something I’d love to keep doing even just as a hobby. I hope you guys have enjoyed it, and I hope at least some of my songs have resonated with you, remember that you’re not alone.
Thanks so much for reading, and for those that followed me throughout this journey and development of this project, thank you so much! Please let me know what you’re up to, what your plans are for after lockdown? But make sure to stay safe and stay well.
Speak soon.
