This has been a crazy week. I started out feeling really unmotivated. Then on Wednesday I kicked it into gear at 100mph. I wanted to tie up as many loose ends as physically possible as quickly as possible so that I have some contingency time. I want to have some time to continue writing, but also be able to produce as much as I can of everything, to the best possible standard. I went through and dug out old songs that I wanted to finish producing and made a list. It is BIG, and there’s more than what’s on the list.
I also feel like the weeks are going really quickly as well, it’s monday one second and then you blink and suddenly it’s Friday. I have got a lot done which is good though.
This was meant to be the my final final deadlines ever but obviously corona, it’s just a weird thought. I’m going to continue this blog until I’ve handed my work in so you can see how I’m working, and how things are changing.
I’ve also had quite an emotional week as my Great Grandma died this week. We had to have a virtual funeral, which was really sad and disappointing. I’m trying to carry on as well and as close to normal as I possibly can.

Performance
Not much has changed here, I’m still waiting for the parts from my band - but we have spoken and are sorting things out. I also had some problems with a band member not responding, but everyone’s working practices and abilities have been compromised particularly due to the lack of access to facilities and equipment, so we’re having to rethink things. Luckily my other band members are brilliant and one of them is going to also do that instrument.
This week I planned out my extra sketchy bits for the video and I filmed half of them week. I’m planning on finishing them off within the next few days.
The virtual festival is confirmed for 27th/28th May, which I’m sure we can get it finished for. I’ve used final cut pro quite a lot for my ALLORA work so I know it quite well and hope that I can get it done reasonably quickly, I have quite a strong vision for what I want, it’s mainly just how I incorporate the sketchy videos which I’m not 100% sure about. I’m planning on putting it all together with my bits when I film my talk-y bits as I’ll have a good structure to work with and it’s just about putting the track and the band members’ videos in.
ALLORA
I had a very productive ALLORA week this week. Even though we’ve not been in as direct contact as we used to be, like I’ve said before I still have tons that I can be doing. Caty’s video went up on Monday on my IGTV and Youtube if you would like to check it out: Instagram: @sabsmusic_ https://www.instagram.com/sabsmusic_/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnykJkQSONogCEHozvN-fGg.
I also finished editing Maisie’s and Shira’s ‘Getting to Know’ videos, I just need to create the promo video for each interview which I’m planning on doing over the next few days and then posting the next one so watch out because they’re coming soon.
Finally, I finished an EPK for ALLORA, they already had one but I made it into a one page document for them. It was a really interesting and useful thing to do and to have the knowledge in it. It’s also really interesting to see what information needs to go on an EPK and think about what way the recipients will want it. I’m really glad that I got the opportunity to be able to do it, even if they don’t use the one that I did, it was really useful for me.
If you haven’t checked out ALLORA’s new single ‘Creature’ (which also comes with a cheeky prelude) you need to right now!!! It's available on all major streaming platforms right now!!!
Songwriting/Personal Artistry.
I’ve done quite a bit of work for my own artistry section this week which I’m happy about. Things feel like they’re really moving recently which I’m happy with.
However, I’ve been struggling to keep motivated with writing new songs, like I said before I just want to focus on getting as much done and produced that I’ve written previously. But I’m still writing bits and pieces
I filmed some little cover videos of Clairo’s ‘Pretty Girl’ and ‘White Flag’ which I want to post soon.
I posted a quick electronic instrumental track on Sunday which was called ‘Interlude’, you can hear it on my soundcloud here and on my music page here.
I’ve almost completely finished producing ‘We’re Not Free’, ‘Afterthought’ and ‘Feeling Alright’, I’m just going to re-record some vocals and try and mix it as best as I can and then they’ll be up on my Soundcloud page and my music page of this website.
It’s all starting to come together now. I’m going to try and finish writing the cool vibey track that I started last week cus I really like it and I really like the melodies, I think it’ll be a bit of a banger when it’s finished.
I’m going to take some pictures soon too, just like ones on my phone and laptop to fit that bedroom pop style I’m going for, it shouldn’t take long, it’s just the next time I put makeup on as it’s not too often in this current situation, but I’m to make the effort to do so. I’ve got quite a few pictures from when we took some at uni which I’m also using.
Lastly, I’ve decided that any songs that I don’t finish - no matter what state their in, mixed or not, will go onto the demo page when I near deadline day, so you can see what I had and what I worked on. Some are also just little voice notes which will go on.
Thanks for reading, I hope you’re enjoying these weekly updates, there’s only a few more left so make sure you check back soon to see what’s new!
Speak soon.
