This has been an interesting week. It’s been a very busy week in very different ways to what used to be a busy week. A busy week for me would often include having to leave the house multiple times a week, but this time I’ve had an immensely busy week without leaving the house. In all honesty, I don’t even know what week of lockdown we are, I’ve gotten used to it, especially as I have work to be getting on with. However, it feels weird to think about normal life, and where I would’ve been right at the second if COVID-19 didn’t exist, but here we are.

Here are some pictures from a mini-photoshoot my housemates and I did (which I promise we did whilst keeping to government guidelines).

Performance

Things have moved on very quickly since my last update. I’ve now received all of Holly’s (my pianist) parts and videos, and I have received everyone else’s parts, I’m just waiting on the final few videos. I need to re-record some of my vocals now that I have the harmonies, just to perfect everything, but it’s looking up. I’ve also filmed 80% of my little extra bits, and all of the intros, as well as starting to put the video for each song together. Phew. I have thought of new ‘bits’ that I can add so that’s what needs to be filmed, as I worked out once I started editing that some songs have a lot more ‘fun bits’ than others, and I want to be as consistent as I can possibly be.

It’s shaping into quite a funky little performance, I can’t wait to share it with you all….speaking of which. There is going to be an online festival on the 27th-28th May with everyone’s videos (whether that be live streams or pre recorded videos) More details to follow, but please put the dates in your diary and come along (virtually) with a beverage of your choice.

ALLORA

As I said last week, I’ve pretty much finished everything I can do with ALLORA as I’m not able to meet up with them and film anything else. I’ve also given them a document of promotion and marketing ideas that they can do if they want to, as well as an option for an EPK. I’ve also finished editing all the videos from the ‘Getting to Know ALLORA’ Series. Maisie’s promo video is currently up, and her final video was due to come out on Friday, but I’ve had some problems with Instagram, it won’t let me post the video because of connection issues (even though there definitely isn’t anything wrong with my connection). As Instagram is the main place that people see these videos, I’m going to keep trying over the weekend, which means that I will be delaying Shira’s to late next week. Make sure you follow @sabsmusic_ on Instagram to be kept up to date, and to see the videos as soon as they come out.

Songwriting/Personal Artistry.

I haven’t been doing a lot of actual songwriting recently. There are a few different reasons for this. One reason is that I haven’t been in much of a songwriting mindspace recently, and another reason is that I’ve been focusing on producing as much of my current discography as I can (which we’ll come back too). I’m not feeling particularly inspired and words aren’t flowing as well as they can do. I’m still looking out for inspiration where I can and writing down any lyrics that do spring to mind. I’ve got a skeleton of a song that I really want to find lyrics to. I’ve got some currently but I’m not too sure...I’m going to sleep on it for a bit and see if anything springs to mind.

I’ve decided that I’m going to develop my demo section quite soon… I’m planning on posting any songs that were half finished in any way, shape or form on the demo page. This means that half-finished songs, or songs that I’m deciding not to produce will be posted on the demo page in the form of lyrics or “live take” songs - which will be either voice notes or videos. Anyone who sees any demos that they like on this page can get into contact with me via my social media channels so that we can work together on finishing them off.

Like I said above, I’ve been focusing on finishing as much of my discography as I possibly can recently. This week I produced and posted ‘Sweet Tooth’, ‘ Lonely To Say The Least’ ‘House Party 44’, ‘We’re Not Free’, ‘Feeling Alright’, ‘In My Feels’, ‘Afterthought’ and ‘Better Off. Yep. Every single one of those. What a treat for you guys. They are all available on my ‘Music’ page here, as well as my Soundcloud here. There are many more to come, so please subscribe to my Soundcloud page and follow my Instagram page (@sabsmusic_) to be notified when I post anything.

As a final note, I posted a short cover of ‘White Flag’ but Clairo on my Instagram page which I will post below if you want to check it out.

Thanks so much for checking in again this week. I hope you’re all safe and well. Please check in next week to see what’s been going on.

Speak soon.
